Saturday morning: trip to B.F. Clyde’s (steam powered) Cider Mill in Old Mystic, CT, just 1 hour from New Haven. It’s number 181 on Wikipedia’s list of Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmarks, right after the Johnstown Incline! They’ve got at least a million varieties of hard cider and the best fresh apple cider donuts you’ve ever tasted.
Saturday afternoon: apple picking at Bishop’s Orchards on the way back to New Haven, or meet us there if you’re just getting into town. Plus, they have a corn maze which is open every weekend and a hay maze that is opening on Sept 17! Pumpkin picking will be in season too if you’re a big fan of big gourds.
Saturday afternoon/evening: ¡¡¡GRILLAPALOOZA!!! The grillz will be lit by the time folks return from apple picking, and from then on everything must be grilled! Check the menu to see what we’re grilling and make your requests on the next page >>
